Top 5 Podcasts

I discovered podcasts about a year ago. It was a life changer. Dishes aren’t nearly as dreadful to do when I can be entertained by a podcast at the same time! I also love to put one going on walks, car rides, anywhere really. Learn and do life at the same time?! Win-win. I used to say I would love to be a professional student (nerdy I know), but now I don’t have to, because there are so many podcasts, that you could learn almost anything you wanted to for FREE!! How awesome is that?!

Pre-Natal Care: Part 2

I’m back for part 2 of my pre-natal care blog. I got so wrapped up in supplements, that the first part was a little longer then anticipated. But that’s all right, I’m now 4 days overdue, so I have been given ample time to add to the first part, haha. Also, I take that to mean that I am passionate about this subject. And I am, I love talking about pregnancy and think that you DON’T have to suffer through it! And that’s what these posts are intended to deliver. Take care of yourself during pregnancy, and you can feel great! I’m not talking about sickness here, I am talking about aches and pains, soreness, headaches or low back pain. Almost every mom I’ve met has had some sort of pre-natal tension or pain at some point in their pregnancy. So, what can you do? Continue on to find out! Here are my 3 Must Have Therapies:

Self-Love Menu

Have you ever heard of a Self-Love Menu? I hadn't until a couple of weeks ago, but I love it! Basically, it's a menu of all of -or a few of- the things that you do to love yourself. I can't remember exactly where I saw it, but they recommended starting with a list of 10 things. In my head, I was like "Oh! That'll be easy!" Yeah, not so much. It was actually harder then I anticipated.

The Power of Touch

Touch is very powerful, both bad and good. I want to discuss the power of touch in a healthy, loving environment. Did you know that to thrive in relationships, as a baby, or as a child touch is SO important? The smallest touch can activate those reward centers in the brain and make us feel better. We feel happier, safer, more confident, more soothed and more connected.

DIY Sunburn Relief

Hello, Hello! I hope you had a great Memorial Day weekend. We decided to spend it as a family and had so much fun at the beach, doing yard work (yes that's fun to me!) and visiting friends and family.

We had beautiful weather here in UP and I know quite a few people who enjoyed it so much they got sunburn. Some got REALLY bad sunburn. So this blog is for them, and any of you who may be in the same boat.

This is a super quick DIY-talking 5 minutes quick- as long as you have the ingredients. I put this up on my Instagram stories too, and they will be on my highlight reel if you want to see videos there.

DIY Sunburn Relief

Ingredients Needed:

  • Coconut Oil
  • Lavender Essential Oil
  • Jar to Store Cream
  • Pot
  • Spoon

The first step is to spoon about 1 cup of coconut oil into a pot.

Then, turn on the heat and melt the coconut oil until it is completely melted. Once the coconut oil is melted, you can add 24 drops of Lavender and mix that into the coconut oil. (24 drops is for 4 oz of finished product. If you're doing less, reduce the amount of Lavender too).

Hi Mary and pregnant belly! Haha

Once you mix in the essential oil, then you can put the mixture into a jar and ta-da! You're done! It's that easy.

Before using, let the mixture cool down a little, most likely back to a harden texture like regular coconut oil is.

Then, you can apply the sunburn relief a few times a day until you feel like you've healed and redness has gone down.

Enjoy!!
